Pimp C Tributes

I'm not going to pretend like I'm a big UGK fan or anything. When the album with this song on it came out in 96 they were but a Southern footnote in my very limited music world view. Again the internet wasn't pushing new music from around the world and all the new shit at a daily clip in those days. All I had was a few mainstream magazines and local radio to set my tastes. But I absolutely give this man credit in retrospect. He (along with Dungeon Family (oukast/goodie mob) helped define a more musical, lush, country and definitively "southern" sound for hip hop music from the great South, a land known for only Bounce and Bass previously. This is the UGK song I use in my movie Mustache, well at least the intro before my character starts rambling about the dregs his life is in! The song slows the movie down into its final chapter. The song of course so eerily appropriate it has spawned hundreds of Youtube tributes in the last couple of days.
